Thomas leads all scorers on Senior Day but Privateers Fall to Southeastern

NEW ORLEANS – Dionjhae Thomas finished her Privateer career with a team-high 20 points as New Orleans (6-15, 3-12) finished their season with a 75-48 loss to the Southeastern Lady Lions (11-7, 10-5) on Saturday evening at the Lakefront Arena.

Thomas, who was one of two seniors honored before the game on Senior Day, played over 34 minutes and went 9-of-11 from the field in her final home game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
A low-scoring game carried into the first media timeout as New Orleans led 6-5 with just under four minutes remaining in the opening stanza. Southeastern hit a 10-2 run to close out the quarter on a night where the Lady Lions shot 57.1 percent from the field.

Zoe Cooper finished with a career-high 13 rebounds. Cooper had 25 rebounds over her last two contests to close out her freshman season. Mary Delgado landed with nine points and Bri Ellis finished with eight in the loss.

Southeastern had three in double figures, led by Caitlyn Williams’ 18. The Lady Lions had 19 assists on 28 made field goals. Dajia Harvey (17) and Hailey Giaratano (11) also scored in double figures for Southeastern.

INSIDE THE BOX
The Privateers had 11 assists on the night. Brianna Ellis led the way individually in the helpers category with three. Cooper, Thomas and Delgado each had two. The Privateers had five blocked shots to Southeastern’s one. Cooper led the way in rejections with two.

Ellis and Delgado had two triples apiece in the season finale for the Privateers.
