St. Thomas More visits Westgate in The Hash It Out Show Game Of The Week audio stream

The Hash It Out Show Game Of The Week will continue with a matchup from one of the toughest districts in the state of Louisiana. The St. Thomas More Cougars will hit the road to take on the Westgate Tigers in a District 4-4A battle.

St. Thomas More (8-0, 3-0) is coming in on a 18-game winning streak including eight straight in 4-4A play. The last defeat for the Cougars was a 49-28 loss to Catholic of Baton Rouge on Sept. 23, 2022.

St, Thomas More had to rally to keep that streak alive, earning a 35-34 victory against Teurlings Catholic last week. The offense exploded for 392 total yards (301 passing and 91 rushing) led by quarterback Sam Altmann who completed 21 of 34 passes for 283 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Landon Strother had 10 catches for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Sanders Foreman added eight catches for 115 yards. Hutch Swilley ran for 67 yards and two touchdowns.

The Cougars defense features defensive end Adam Guidry with defensive backs Oliver Allen and Gavin Duplechin.

Westgate (5-3, 1-2) is coming off a 42-11 loss to Lafayette Christian last week. Quarterback Bryant Leon led the Tigers with a touchdown. Running back Tavias Gordon and wide receiver Davian Jackson will try to take some pressure off Leon. Evan Bryant, Andre Williams and Khylon Antoine headline the Tigers defense.

In last season’s matchup, St. Thomas More survived a valiant Westgate team in a 42-34 shootout victory. This time the Tigers are the home team at Westgate Tiger Stadium in New Iberia on Friday night.
