HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana men’s basketball team added North Florida Transfer and three-point shooting threat Ryan Burkhardt to the 2021-22 roster, third-year SLU head basketball David Kiefer announced Wednesday.

Burkhardt (6-5, 185) appeared in 117 games for North Florida in four seasons. The St. Augustine, Florida native shot 40 percent (132-for-329) while with the Ospreys including a career-high 15 points and five three-pointers against East Carolina Dec. 10, 2020.

“Ryan’s a perfect piece to the puzzle for us,” said Kiefer. “He adds a dimension that helps us spread the floor on the offensive end. He’s also a high-character, high-academic guy that I think will bring good leaderships qualities to our locker room that will fit perfectly with the guys we have.”

A St. Augustine High School grad, Burkhardt averaged 16.6 points and 4.0 rebounds per game as a senior including 96 three-pointers and finished his prep career with 1,156 points. The sharp-shooting guard also drilled nine three-pointers in a high school game which is the SHS school record.

“I think we’ve got a great chance to play for a conference championship (at SLU),” said Burkhardt. “It’s always been a lifelong goal of mine to get into the NCAA Tournament and I think the makeup of this team and this coaching staff give us a great opportunity to do so.”
