HAMMOND, La. – The newest members of the Southeastern Louisiana University Athletics Hall of Fame will be inducted on Oct. 1, the university announced Tuesday.

The 2022 SLU Athletics Hall of Fame class consists of former Southeastern standouts Harlan Miller (football, 2012-15), Natalie Santana (soccer, 2007-10) and Kevin Fogg (baseball, 1973-76).

The trio will be inducted in a private ceremony Oct. 1 and will be recognized at halftime of that evening’s Southeastern football game versus Murray State. The induction of Miller, Santana and Fogg will bring the total of Southeastern Athletics Hall of Fame members to 157.

Fogg will be the 24th SLU baseball student-athlete to join the Athletics Hall of Fame, while Miller is the 66th former Lion football student-athlete to receive the honor. Santana joins former Lady Lion soccer standouts Allison Holladay (2004), Becca Weingartner (2006), Kim Kwolek (2009), Courtney Coutu (2011), Kim McNally (2012), Kendra Oney (2012), Kari Yost (2017) and Maiya Cooper (2020).

Miller, a Kentwood, Louisiana native, was a four-year starter for the Lions and twice earned All-America honors. A three-time first team All-Southland Conference selection and a three-time All-Louisiana honoree, Miller was a key player for Southeastern’s consecutive Southland Conference championships and the program’s first two NCAA FCS playoff appearances.

Miller finished his Southeastern career with 11 interceptions – good for fourth in program history. Following the end of his time as a Lion, he was a sixth round pick by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2016 NFL Draft. He played in nine games over three seasons, intercepting a pass and returning it 52 yards as a rookie versus the Los Angeles Rams.

Santana, who hails from Cypress, California, is one of the most decorated players in the history of Southeastern soccer. A three-time All-Southland Conference, All-Louisiana and Southland All-Tournament selection, Santana ranks among the school’s career leaders in goals (26, 6th), assists (26, 2nd) and points (78, 5th). She and Weingartner are the only players in program history to top both 25 goals and 25 assists.

Santana was named to the NSCAA All-Central Region team as a senior and helped the Lady Lions to a Southland Conference regular season championship. She is one of seven SLU players with double-digit assists in a season, recording 10 for a 2009 squad that earned the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

Fogg, a native of Slidell, Louisiana, was a three-time All-Gulf South Conference and two-time ABCA All-Region performer for the Lions. A career .331 hitter and a member of the Southeastern 1970’s All-Decade Team, Fogg helped the Lions to the 1975 Division II World Series, leading that year’s Lions with five home runs and a .356 batting average.

While Fogg’s induction was the result of his exploits on the diamond, he was a two-sport athlete who also played three years on the Lion basketball team. He led SLU in assists in each of his final two seasons and his 16 assists in a 102-81 win over Pikeville College on Dec. 7, 1974 are still a single-game school record.

The Hall of Fame induction class is selected by the Southeastern Athletics Hall of Fame Committee, which meets annually each April. Nomination forms and more information on the Hall of Fame is available at https://lionsports.net/honors/southeastern-athletics-hall-of-fame.

Nominations can be sent to Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information Kemmler Chapple, SLU 10309, Hammond, LA 70402 or by e-mail at kemmler.chapple@southeastern.edu. The deadline for 2023 nominations is March 31, 2023.
