At Wesley Barrow Stadium in New Orleans, Xavier University of Louisiana swept a Red River Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday against Texas College. Both scores were 10-1, and both games were halted after 4 1/2 innings because of the mercy rule.

The Gold Nuggets — 7-14 overall and 3-1 in the RRAC — ended a six-game losing streak and set (and tied) the program record for winning margin. This is XULA’s second softball season.

Vivionna Robles and Carina Chargois both pitched complete games for XULA and combined to allow five hits.

Chenai Keyes and Alexis Richardson had two RBIs apiece for the Gold Nuggets in the opener, and Mecolett Bradley went 3-for-3 in the second game with three runs and four RBIs. Bradley hit a three-run homer and doubled. Amaya Eubanks had three RBIs in the second game.

Texas College (1-6, 0-4) has scored just three runs this season.

XULA’s Sunday home doubleheader against Jarvis Christian was postponed; no makeup date has been determined.
