SLIDELL – The Salmen Spartans hosted the Lakeshore Titans in a district matchup on their Senior Night. The Spartans have many reasons to celebrate after a 21-14 victory Friday.

A few penalty plague drives stifled the Spartans in the third quarter but they would find the winning points in the final quarter. Cameron Dorsey connected with Markel Keyes for a spectacular 19-yard touchdown catch with 10:33 to go to break a 14-14 tie. The Spartans held firm defensively to secure the win.

Lakeshore came out throwing the ball from their Wing-T set early in the contest. Quarterback Beau Bernard completed a pass to running back Kato Pichon for a 19-yard gain before finding tight end Kris Hayes for a 34-yard touchdown.

Salmen’s first possession ended when the Titans sniffed out a fake punt. Lakeshore took a 7-0 lead into the second quarter.

The Spartans tied the game with 6:52 left in the second quarter after a physical 19-yard run for a touchdown by running back Jacobi Jefferson.

With a little over a minute to go in the half, Salmen (4-2) grabbed more momentum. A 19-yard pass from Dorsey to wideout Jaylun Robinson helped set up a late score. With seven seconds to go in the quarter, A eight-yard scoring catch by Damon Narcisse put Salmen ahead 14-7 at the half.

After a Salmen drive in the third quarter stalled at the Lakeshore two-yard line, the Titans were backed up to the shadow of their own goalpost.

Not for long. It took just one play for Lakeshore (1-4) to be back in the game.

Pichon burst through a hole 98 yards for a touchdown to tie the game at 14 a piece with 5:26 to go in the third.

The Spartans held the Titans scoreless from there.

Salmen will go on the road to play Archbishop Hannan next Friday night, and Lakeshore will face Loranger at Home.
