The Saints surprisingly cut veteran linebacker Nigel Bradham, first reported Monday by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The team also placed cornerback Johnson Bademosi on injured reserve.

The 30-year-old Bradham signed a one-year contract earlier this month after spending the past four seasons with the Eagles.

Injuries slowed Bradham down last year in Philadelphia, and he did not gain traction early in training camp behind Demario Davis, Alex Anzalone, rookie third-round draft choice Zack Baun and others. The release bodes well for others including Kaden Elliss and veteran Craig Robertson.

The 29-year old Bademosi was originally signed by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Stanford in 2012. In eight seasons with Cleveland (2012-15), Detroit (2016), New England (2017), Houston (2018), Miami (2019) and New Orleans (2019), Bademosi has played in 120 contests with six starts. He played in six games last year for the Saints before being placed on injured reserve on December 16.
