Saints place RB Vereen on injured reserve, make other Friday cuts

Saints running back Shane Vereen is headed to injured reserve.

According to multiple reports, the veteran back who injured his right hand or possibly his fingers during the Thursday night preseason finale.

Vereen, who signed with the Saints in July, ran seven times for 22 yards and caught nine passes for 41 yards in the preseason.

The move is part of the process of reducing the New Orleans roster down to 53 players by Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock.
