NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Saturday morning that the Saints and Alvin Kamara have reached an agreement on a five-year contract extension worth $75 million.

Including the final current season of his rookie contract, Kamara’s new deal is worth $77.13 million overall through the 2025 season with a $15 million signing bonus and $34.33 million guaranteed.

The former third-round pick out of Tennessee dealt with multiple injuries last year, managing 171 carries for 797 yards on 4.7 yards per carry with five rushing touchdowns plus 81 catches for 533 yards and another score in 14 games.

Kamara appears to have fared quite well in his negotiations as a running back compared to Minnesota’s Dalvin Cook, who reportedly secured a five-year extension worth $63 million with $28 million guaranteed Saturday.

As the Saints maneuver around a tight salary cap situation, the team also managed to restructure defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins contract.
