Derek Carr

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has informed New Orleans that he won’t approve a trade to the Saints or any other team, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported Sunday.

Carr has a no-trade clause so the Raiders are expected to release him before the clauses that include $40.4 million in guarantees on his contract become active on Wednesday.

Las Vegas benched Carr after they were eliminated from playoff contention in December. The veteran quarterback left the team with two games left to play, knowing the end of his time in Las Vegas was apparent.

Carr, set to turn 32 in late March, will be available to sign with any team once released. He visited the Saints this past week after New Orleans came to an agreement with Las Vegas on potential trade parameters. Now the Saints will have to compete with other teams on the open market for his services.
