Pelicans free-agent center DeMarcus Cousins is “very likely” to re-sign with New Orleans, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 27-year old Cousins, who suffered a torn Achilles five months ago, is expected to end up with a two-year deal worth $60 million to remain with the Pelicans.

“He’s going to have to show he’s health again, get back to a high level. Cousins was a player who was on his way to a five-year, full-max contract,” Wojnarowski noted on Friday night’s Sportscenter.

The four-time All-Star averaged 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.6 blocks in 46 games last season.

NBA free agency begins tonight at 11 p.m. Central time when teams can talk to free agents but none can sign contracts until Wednesday, July 6 at 11 a.m.
