LORMAN, Miss. – The New Orleans Privateers had five players reach double figures and they controlled the game from the outset in an 83-59 victory over the Alcorn State Braves on Wednesday afternoon at Davey L. Whitley Complex.

The win was the first road victory of the season for the Privateers who now head to the holiday break.

The Privateers broke out the gate quickly with a 17-1 run that extended to just past the four-minute mark of the opening quarter. New Orleans went 6-of-8 from the field to start the game and Alcorn started by missing their first eight field goal attempts.

New Orleans entered the second quarter with a 23-9 lead and that quarter featured a tale of two parts. The Privateers outscored Alcorn 17-9 in the first seven minutes. However, the Braves hit a 9-3 spurt but the road squad still went to the half with a comfortable lead at 43-27.

Alexis Calderon and Justice Ross were both in double figures by the time both teams went to their respective locker rooms. In the first half, New Orleans dominated at the free throw line (16-4 advantage in attempts) and on the glass (out-rebounded Alcorn 17-8).

New Orleans had 48 free throw attempts to 24 for the Braves and the squad was efficient from downtown for the game. The Privateers hit 9-of-15 three-point attempts on the day.
