Nacogdoches, Texas – Despite taking an early lead behind stout defense, the New Orleans Privateers were unable to overcome a late offensive drought resulting in an 81-50 defeat Friday night at Stephen F. Austin inside the William R. Johnson Coliseum.

The Lumberjacks went on to shoot 52.6% in the second half to improve to 8-5 in their final non-conference game.

New Orleans (5-8) was up by 11 after the first six and a half minutes due to early baskets from Tyson Jackson, Jordan Johnson, and Khaleb Wilson-Rouse. They were just as tenacious defensively as the Privateers forced five turnovers in that same span. Midway through the half, the Lumberjacks went on a 19-7 run to take a six-point lead into the locker room.

SFA maintained the lead through the second half and finished with three in double-figures led by Latrell Jossell and Myles Jenkins with 12 points.

The Privateers were also shorthanded during key stretches of the game due to Jackson, Johnson and Wilson-Rouse being in foul trouble by early in the second half.

Johnson led New Orleans with 12 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Wilson-Rouse and Carlos Hart chipped in eight points apiece, while Jah Short led defensively with six rebounds and three steals.
