The New Orleans Pelicans’ anticipated offseason of change has begun with a significant shake-up in their front office.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported Thursday that the Detroit Pistons will hire Trajan Langdon, the Pelicans’ general manager, to serve as their new President of Basketball Operations.

Langdon spent five years with the franchise working closely with David Griffin, the Pelicans’ Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations. Prior to his role in New Orleans, Langdon served as the assistant general manager for the Brooklyn Nets.

The Anchorage, Alaska native who starred at Duke played three seasons in the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers before embarking on a nine-year career overseas.

Langdon takes over an organization with a young roster led by Monty Williams, the former head coach of the Pelicans who just completed his first season with Detroit. The Pistons won just 14 games in 2023-24.
