No. 1 Oklahoma Wesleyan 85 def. No. 5 LSU-Shreveport 71

No. 1 Oklahoma Wesleyan advances to the quarterfinal round and will face the winner of No. 6 SAGU (Texas) and No. 2 Thomas More (Ky.) on Saturday, March 19 at 5:00 p.m. CT. No. 5 LSU-Shreveport has been eliminated from the championship.

Oklahoma Wesleyan (Liston)
– The Eagles improve to 34-2 overall on the season.
– Final 16-point margin matches the second biggest margin of victory in the round of 16. Arizona Christian beat Bethel (Kan.) 82-66.
– Second Quadrant No. 1 seed to advance to the Quarterfinals.
– OKWU Held a 44-30 advantage in rebounds over LSU-S. The Eagles came into play ranked third in the NAIA in rebound margin (10.7)
– Held LSU-S under their scoring average by nearly 13 points. Entered the Round of 16 ranked fourth in the NAIA in scoring defense (61.7).

LSU-Shreveport (La.) (Liston)
– The Pilots in their season at 27-7 overall.
– Ninth in the NAIA in points per game (83.7) entering the Round of 16. Held under that average for just ninth time in 34 games, all loses.
– Limited to 7-of-8 from the free throw line (matching their fewest free throws in a game this season). Entered the Round of 16 as the NAIA leader in free throws per game (17.6); 75-percent per game
– Leondre Washington entered the Round of 16 with a 16.6 ppg average. He finished the game with 20 points, marking his ninth game this season scoring 20 or more points.
– Round of 16 loss snaps a 10-game winning streak.
