NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers volleyball schedule for the 2021 season has been released and it opens at home with the New Orleans Invitational.

In head coach Ashley Preston’s first season leading the squad, the Privateers will play three matches in the opening weekend against UTRGV, Alcorn State and Tennessee State. The opening match will be against UTRGV on Friday, Aug. 27 at 4 p.m.

The Privateers will continue their pre-conference swing in the Sunshine State. New Orleans will play Drake, UNC-Wilmington and Jacksonville from Sept. 3-4 in Jacksonville.

A well-traveled Privateers squad by the time Southland play gears up will also head to Auburn for a single road match against the Tigers. That’s followed by a West Coast weekend against Southern Utah, Cal Baptist and UC-Riverside.

“I’m excited to begin this chapter with the UNO volleyball program and I’m geared up to see what the season holds for these young women,” said head coach, Ashley Preston.

The final weekend before conference features opponents closer to home with the Louisiana Tech Invitational. The three matches in that weekend will be host, Louisiana Tech, Little Rock and Southern.

Conference play begins when the Privateers take the short trip to Thibodaux to face Nicholls on Sept. 25. That begins a three-match road swing to start the 2021 path through the Southland which encompasses 14 matches.

The first home match for the Privateers is on Oct. 7 when they face UIW. Home matches against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Northwestern State and Southeastern will follow.

Regular season play ends with three matches at home. The Privateers will host HBU and McNeese before closing the season against Nicholls on Nov. 11.

The Southland Tournament is scheduled to be held in Hammond, La. from Nov. 18-21.
