NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans Athletics announced today that ticket sales will accept only credit and debit card transactions for Privateers Men’s and Women’s Basketball, beginning with the New Orleans men’s basketball game against Dillard on Friday, Dec. 17.

“We’ve invested heavily in our Ticket Sales and Operations over the past 18 months, including both staffing and software,” noted Steve Stroud, Deputy Athletics Director. “As we have upgraded our software, we have seen greater and greater advance sales, in particular via our mobile ticket sales platform.”

“With the software now in place and a great Ticket Sales staff, lead by senior director of sales and service Vince Granito and ticket sales and database coordinator Ryan Ellinghausen, we feel now is the time to eliminate cash operations for ticket sales,” Stroud added. “Going “cashless” presents greater safety and security for all involved and will streamline our back-office operations.”

The move to cashless ticket sales follows a successful transition for merchandise sales at Lakefront Arena, which has only accepted credit and debit cards since Nov. 13. Lakefront Arena concessions will still allow for cash transactions.

It is anticipated that Privateer Baseball will feature 100 percent cashless operations starting on opening day, Feb. 18, as the Privateers host the Andre Dawson Classic. This will include gameday ticket sales, concessions, merchandise and parking.

Tickets are available for purchase at www.UNOPrivateers.com/Tickets or at the Lakefront Arena Box Office beginning one hour prior to tip-off. All ticket sales are card-only – no cash will be accepted at the box office.
