Loyola has won SSAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week in three consecutive weeks, with Myles Burns accounting for two of those awards

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Last week, the No. 2 Loyola Wolf Pack men’s basketball team achieved its greatest start in program history, a 12-0 overall record. Senior Myles Burns has been a key contributor in this historic season, as he earned Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

This is the second SSAC Player of the Week award for Burns this season, as well as the second one in the past three weeks. Brandon Davis and Zach Wrightsil have also been named Player of the Week this season, and four of the last five SSAC weekly awards have belonged to Wolf Pack players.

Loyola went 2-0 last week, starting with a 95-62 blowout of crosstown rival Dillard. Burns went off against the Bleu Devils, putting up season highs of 27 points, 19 rebounds, and seven steals, as well as five assists. The 19 rebounds were also a career-high.

While Burns only scored six points with seven boards in the team’s 78-71 win against William Carey, his performance against Dillard was good enough to still give him averages of 16.5 points, 13 rebounds, four steals and four assists per game for the week.

This was the fourth SSAC Player of the Week award for Burns in his Loyola career.
