Tulane junior quarterback earns recognition from The American and The Manning Award

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University quarterback Justin McMillan was recognized twice today following his performance in the Green Wave’s thrilling 29-28 victory over Navy on Saturday.

His first honor came from the American Athletic Conference, as he was named Offensive Player of the Week.

His second piece of recognition came from The Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl where he was one of eight quarterbacks selected as the “Stars of the Week.”

College football fans can now go to the Allstate Sugar Bowl social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) to vote for what they think was the best performance from this past weekend. When voting closes on Wednesday at 11 a.m. (Central), the top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.

McMillan was honored by the league office for the second time this year after he finished with 342 yards of total offense. He completed 18 of 29 passes for 291 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 51 yards and a TD on eight carries.

McMillan also engineered the game-winning drive in the final minutes of the fourth quarter as he led a seven-play, 71-yard scoring drive capped by his 26-yard touchdown pass to Jaetavian Toles and a game-winning two-point conversion pass to Charles Jones II.

Tulane will return to action after its bowl destination has been decided.
