The ownership of the New Orleans Baby Cakes has filed a relocation application seeking to move the club to Wichita, Mayor Jeff Longwell announced Thursday.

According to Longwell, Wichita is hoping that the new stadium will be built and the team move in 2020 after the final year on its stadium contract at The Shrine on Airline.

CCS reported Wednesday that the Triple A franchise was set to move from the New Orleans market but plans by Baby Cakes ownership appear to be in motion to fill the minor league baseball void with an unnamed Double A franchise from the Southern League.
