Slidell High School announced Tuesday that head football coach Malter Scobel has resigned.

Malter Scobel, the head football coach at Slidell High School, has decided to resign effective immediately.

“We accept Coach Scobel’s decision to step down as head football coach. We thank Coach Scobel for his time and efforts as the leader of our football program. We would like to wish Coach Scobel nothing but success in whatever path he chooses moving forward. We have already taken the necessary steps to begin our search to determine our next head coach, but we will work in the best interest of our students and take the time to make the right decision.” ~Chad Goulas, Co-AD Slidell High School

Slidell finished this season with a 4-6 record including 3-4 in District 6-5A. Last season, the Tigers won the district title and a playoff game in posting a 9-3 record.

Scobel was 17-15 in three seasons leading the Tigers after he was elevated to the head coaching role after serving as the Tigers’ defensive coordinator. Previously, he was a head coach at Covington and Hammond over five seasons with a 26-26 record at those stops.
