Lyddy’s five touchdown passes highlight dominant Calvary win over Haynesville, 56-13
Calvary Baptist rolled over Haynesville, 56-13, at Jerry Barker Stadium on Friday night.
The victory clinched at least a share of the top spot in district for the Cavaliers.
It was made clear from the start that Calvary (5-2) had a passing attack ready to flex its muscle. The Senior Night party started with a 74-yard strike from Landry Lyddy to Jordon Wallace just 45 seconds into the game. Soon after, Aubrey Hermes hauled in a 30-yard touchdown to make 14-0 with 8:30 left in the first quarter.
Haynesville (6-1) drew closer on a two-yard run from Kyle Woolard to make it 14-6 with 2:06 remaining in the quarter but would not see the promised land again until after halftime.
Scoring wasn’t a problem for Calvary in the meantime. A 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and a 55-yard strike on another Lyddy to Wallace connection made it 28-6.
The air assault by the Cavaliers was relentless. Lyddy found Walter Williams for a 73-yard score and Jordan Wilson four a four-yard touchdown to make it 42-6 with 6:12 left in the half.
On Haynesville’s next possession, the Calvary defense jumped into the scoring action when Trey Kelly intercepted a pass and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown.
Lyddy’s fifth and final touchdown of the night came on a three-yard toss to Miles Williams.
A 75-yard run by Kedrick Grider provided the only score of the second half for the Golden Tornado.
“It was a great performance in all three phases of the game,” said Calvary head coach Rodney Guin.
Calvary wraps up the regular season at Arcadia (2-5) while Haynesville will look to bounce back when they play Homer (5-2).
