EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice continued its impressive weekend with a 9-4 victory over Murray State on Saturday at Bengal Stadium. The Bengals (18-3) scored the first nine runs of the game before a late offensive stand by Murray State.

LSUE used a pair of three-run frames to jump ahead past the Aggies, capitalizing on Murray State miscues. After Reed Eason singled home the first run in the second, the Bengals would plate two more on a bases loaded walk and wild pitch. Another bases loaded walk in the third pushed the lead to 4-0 before Kole Myers brought home two runs on a single, one coming by way of an Aggie error.

Christian Gonzalez would make it an 8-0 LSUE advantage in the fourth, blasting his second career LSUE home run, a two-run shot that banged off the left field foul pole.

Peyton LeJeune capped off the scoring for the Bengals in the fifth, bringing in Kole Myers with a RBI single.

The Bengals kept the Aggies at bay early thanks to another sterling performance by Patrick Vienne. The freshman moved to 6-0, leading the nation in wins, after a 5.1 inning outing. Vienne gave up one earned run off two hits and two walks while striking out seven batters. Murray State did not manage a base hit until the fifth inning before chasing Vienne in the sixth after giving up his only run.

The Aggies put a small scare into LSUE in seventh, scoring three runs while threatening with the bases loaded.

Luke McGibboney would slam the door for the Bengals bullpen, tossing two perfect relief innings with a pair of strikeouts.

Cade Hart and Parker Coley grabbed multi-hit games in LSUE’s nine-hit attack. Coley, Gonzalez and Reed Eason all scored a pair of runs on the afternoon.
