LSU (5-2, 3-1 SEC) looks to keep pace in the SEC Western Division race on Saturday when the Tigers host No. 7-ranked and undefeated Ole Miss (7-0, 3-0 SEC) in Tiger Stadium. Kickoff for LSU’s Homecoming contest is set for 2:30 p.m. and will be televised on CBS with Brad Nessler (pxp), Gary Danielson (analyst) and Jenny Dell (sideline reporter) on the call. LSU is 67-25-3 all-time in Homecoming games. The Tigers have won four straight and 20 of their last 21 Homecoming games with a 10-7 win over Ole Miss in 2014 among that list. LSU is coming off a 45-35 win over Florida last week in Gainesville, while Ole Miss beat Auburn, 48-34, in Oxford. Last year, Ole Miss posted a 31-17 win over the Tigers in Oxford. In the last meeting between LSU and Ole Miss in Tiger Stadium, Kayshon Boutte caught 14 passes for an SEC record 308 yards and three TDs in the 53-48 win over the Rebels in 2020. LSU has won six straight over Ole Miss in Tiger Stadium, which includes a 10-7 victory over the then-No. 3 ranked and 7-0 Rebels in 2014. Ole Miss’ last win in Tiger Stadium came in 2008 by a 31-13 count. LSU goes into the game riding the play of QB Jayden Daniels, who accounted for 6 TDs (3 rush, 3 pass) in the win over Florida. This year, Daniels has become the first QB in LSU history to rush for 100 yards and pass for 200 yards (vs. Florida State) and rush for 3 TDs and pass for 3 TDs (vs. Florida) in a game decided in regulation. Last week against Florida, on 8 offensive possessions, LSU scored 7 TDs, kicked a field goal and punted just once in the win over the Gators.

Brian Kelly: Most Accomplished Hire in LSU History
First-year LSU coach Brian Kelly joined the program as the most accomplished hire in school history, coming to Baton Rouge after winning 284 games and claiming three National Coach of the Year honors in his previous 31 years as a head coach. Kelly’s career-mark stands at 289-99-2 and includes seven 10-win seasons at Notre Dame. In 12 years at Notre Dame, Kelly guided the Irish to 10 bowl appearances, including two College Football Playoff games and the BCS National Championship Game in 2012. Kelly ranks first among all active FBS head coaches in career wins (no matter the division) with 288. He went 113-40 at Notre Dame (12 years), 34-6 at Cincinnati (4 years), 19-16 at Central Michigan (3 years) and 118-35-2 at Grand Valley State (13 years). Kelly will meet a Lane Kiffin-coached team for the fourth time on Saturday. Kelly’s Notre Dame teams went 2-1 against Kiffin when he was head coach at Southern Cal.

Quick Notes on the Tigers
• True freshman LT Will Campbell earned SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors this week for his play in the win over Florida. Campbell has played and started 6 games this year (he missed the Tennessee game due to sickness).
• LSU has used 5 different starting combinations on its offensive line this year. Miles Frazier is the only player to start every game on the offensive line this year and he’s done so at 3 positions (4 at LG, 2 at RG, 1 at RT).
• WR Kayshon Boutte is coming off his best game of 2022 with 6 receptions for 115 yards in the win over Florida. Boutte has caught at least 1 pass in every game of his LSU career (22).
• Boutte reached the 100-career reception mark against Tennessee, needing only 21 games to do so. He’s the fastest to 100-career receptions in LSU history, bettering the previous mark of 23 held by Wendell Davis (1984-87) and Jerel Myers (1999-2002).
• Last week, LSU had its first 100-yard rusher (Josh Williams, 106) and 100-yard receiver (Kayshon Boutte, 115) in the same game since its national championship win over Clemson in January of 2020 (Clyde Edwards-Helaire, 110 rushing and Ja’Marr Chase 221 receiving).
• LSU has won 10 straight games, including 4 in 2022, when reaching the 30-point mark.
• Offensively, LSU is averaging 33.7 points and 443.0 total yards per game (173.4 rushing, 269.6 passing).
• QB Jayden Daniels has accounted for 16 TDs (10passing, 6 rushing) and leads the Tigers in both rushing yards (403) and passing yards (1,564). He’s completed 69.2 percent of his passes (144-of-208) with only one interception.
• With 6 rushing TDs, Daniels is 1 shy of tying the school record of 7 held by several (Joe Burrow was last to do it in 2018).
• Daniels also leads the Tigers in rushing with 403 yards and is just 48 shy of breaking the LSU single-season mark for a QB currently held by Jordan Jefferson (450 in 2010).
• Josh Williams is LSU’s top rusher from the running back position with 229 yards and 3 TDs.
• Malik Nabers leads all receivers with 32 receptions for 418 yards and a TD, followed by Kayshon Boutte (23-245-1 TD).
• Defensively, the Tigers are allowing 21.3 points and 338.0 total yards per game (145.6 rushing, 192.4 passing).
• LB Micah Baskerville has 26 combined tackles in LSU’s past two games (15 vs. Tennessee, 11 at Florida) and leads the Tigers in tackles with 41. He’s followed by LB Greg Penn (32).
• DE BJ Ojulari leads LSU in both tackles for loss (4.5) and sacks (3.5). He’s twice been named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week this year.
