LSU beats Nicholls State, 75-65

BATON ROUGE – No. 23 LSU bounced back after Wednesday’s loss to VCU with a 75-65 victory over Nicholls State on Saturday inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

LSU was led by Skylar Mays who scored 18 points and came down with eight rebounds. Darius Days recorded career highs in points with 17 and rebounds with 11. It was Day’s first career double-double. Freshman Trendon Watford put together his best performance in his young career as he scored 17 points and grabbed five rebounds. Javonte Smart led the Tigers with five assists. Emmitt Williams recorded his fifth career double-double as he scored 11 points and a team high 12 rebounds. The Tigers out rebounded the Colonels 45 to 27

Dexter Mcclanahan led Nicholls State with 20 points and three steals. D’Angelo Hunter scored 15 points for the Colonels. Elvis Harvey Jr. led the Colonels in rebounds with eight off of the bench. Nicholls State forced a season high 25 turnovers against the Tigers.

The Tigers will be back in action on Tuesday Nov. 19 when they take on the UMBC Retrievers at 6:00 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
