WACO, Texas – Louisiana Christian University men’s basketball graduate guard Kae’ron Baker continues to rack up award after award after the calendar flipped to 2022, earning his fourth Red River Athletic Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week award since the new year began, the conference office announced on Monday.

Baker, a graduate guard from Navasota, Texas, set a new single game high in his LCU career when he scored 41 points during Saturday’s contest against Texas College, marking the most points any Wildcat player has scored in a game since at least the 1999-2000 season. In the three games on the week, Baker shot 48.1% on his way to averaging 30 points per game. He also got fouled often during the three games, getting sent to the charity stripe 12.6 times in the three games and averaged 11 makes from the line during that stretch.

Following the impressive week, Baker is now the third-highest scorer in all the NAIA, averaging 24.7 points per game, which also leads the RRAC, and is less than one full point per game behind the country’s top scoring average. During the week, Baker also surpassed the 1,700 career points scored mark, currently the second-best scorer in program history behind only Ryan Vines’ 2,024 points from 1999-2003. This is Baker’s ninth career Player of the Week award, and fourth from the RRAC following five such awards from the American Southwest Conference.

Baker and the Wildcats (9-10, 4-4 RRAC) have a chance to avenge losses against the two LSU schools in the conference at home this week, starting with Thursday night’s game against (RV) LSU Shreveport. LCU dropped the earlier match-up against the Pilots in Shreveport 79-74 back on January 20th. Tip-off of Thursday’s game against the Pilots (14-6, 7-1 RRAC) is set for 7:30 P.M., or about 25 minutes following the end of the women’s game, at H.O. West Fieldhouse.
