RUSTON, La. – A three-home run day carries Louisiana Tech over Nicholls on Wednesday night at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.

Louisiana Tech (30-13) secured a 10-7 win over Nicholls (27-16) following home runs from Michael Ballard, Kasten Furr, and Dalton Davis.

Tech’s offense heated up in the bottom of the second inning, putting up four runs on five hits. Mike Ballard (2-for-4, RBI, BB, HR) crushed a ball to right field, putting the Bulldogs on the board first. Next, Kasten Furr (2-for-4, 2 RBI, HR) earned an RBI after he singled to the right side of the field, sending Adarius Myers home. Dalton Davis (1-for-4, 5 RBI, HR) and Cole McConnell (3-for-5, RBI) picked up back-top-back RBI to grow Tech’s lead 4-0.

Later, Nicholls knocked in back-to-back home runs from Gerardo Villarreal and Garrett Felix, putting the Colonels up 5-4 in the top of the third inning. Eventually, Davis lifted Tech to lead 8-5, following a grand slam home run in the bottom of the third inning. In the top fifth inning, Nicholls scored a run off a fielder’s choice, cutting Tech’s lead to two.

Later in the bottom of the fifth inning, Furr homered to left field, extending Tech’s lead to three, while Jorge Corona doubled to the left field wall, scoring another run for Tech, resulting in a 10-6 lead. Nicholls scrapped for one more run in the top of the sixth, putting the game at 10-7.

Pitcher Jacob Havern (3-2) secured his third win of the season, while Ethan Bates earned his 12th save this year, which ties the LA Tech single-season saves record.

QUOTABLES
Head Coach Lane Burroughs
“It was one of those nights at the Love Shack where the ball was flying, and we all saw it. It was good for Mike Ballard to get us going with his homer, and unfortunately, they hit the five-spot. Dalton Davis, with the grand slam, was huge for us and got us back in the lead. I am proud of our guys tonight, and we are playing good baseball right now, and hitters were pretty relentless all night.”
