LA Tech guard Dixon tabbed Preseason All-Conference USA

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech senior guard Amber Dixon has been picked on the Conference USA Preseason All-League team by a vote of the conference coaches.

Dixon started all 30 games last season for the Lady Techsters, one of only two players on the roster to make every start. She averaged 12.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 40 percent from the field and 76 percent from the free throw line.

The Arlington, Texas, native totaled a team-high leading 89 assists, 46 steals and 11 blocks while scoring in double figures 21 times during the season. She scored a career-high 26 points in an overtime loss at North Texas and added 20 points in an overtime loss to league champion Rice.

She joins eight other student-athletes on the preseason team, including Charlotte’s Mariah Linney, Marshall’s Savannah Wheeler, Middle Tennessee’s Aislynn Hayes and Anastasia Hayes, Rice’s Nancy Mulkey, Old Dominion’s Amari Young and Ajah Wayne and UTEP’s Katia Gallegos.

Mulkey and Anastassia Hayes were tabbed the co-Preseason Conference USA Players of the Year.

Louisiana Tech was tabbed ninth in the preseason coaches poll, while Middle Tennessee is the preseason favorite.

Middle Tennessee (8) picked up eight first place votes to earn the top spot on the coaches poll followed by Rice (3), Old Dominion (3), Charlotte, WKU, UTEP, UAB, North Texas, LA Tech, Florida Atlantic, Southern Miss, Marshall, UTSA and FIU.

Season tickets are on sale for both the Lady Techsters and the Bulldogs. The Lady Techsters will play 15 home games at the Thomas Assembly Center.

In a concerted effort to reach a broader range of its fan base, Louisiana Tech Athletics is once again is offering more family affordable season ticket packages as prices start as low as $150 for a combined (men’s and women’s), $100 for men’s and $50 for women’s.

Deadline to renew season tickets is December 1.

The Champs Kids Club continues to be one of the best deals in town as young Bulldog and Lady Techster fans 8th grade or under can become a member for just $60 for the year (membership valid July 1 to June 31).
