THIBODAUX, La. – Louisiana Tech fell short in its first road game of the year at Nicholls State 5-4 Tuesday night at Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray E. Didier Field.

LA Tech (5-3) scored all four runs in the first and second inning of the contest. Taylor Young tallied his fourth double of the season to lead off the game. Cole McConnell walked. Steele Netterville followed up with a three-run blast to left field to take an early 3-0 lead.

The Bulldogs loaded up the bases with one out in the second inning. Philip Matulia added his sixth RBI of the year on a fielders choice groundout to score Logan McLeod.

Cade Gibson logged another solid midweek start for the Bulldogs. The left-hander worked efficiently through six innings. Gibson got into trouble in the seventh as the Colonels loaded up the bases and began their rally.

LA Tech led off three different innings with doubles and only managed to bring one of those around to score.

Nicholls State (5-4) used a four-run seventh inning to mount a comeback victory against LA Tech. The Colonels loaded up the bases. Jaden Collura blooped one into right field to plate their second run. Basiel Williams doubled down the left field line to tie things up 4-4. Williams later scored on a wild pitch to bring in the go ahead run.

QUOTABLES
Head Coach Lane Burroughs

“We had a leadoff double a couple times and the guy never left second. We are going to have to figure out who we are.”

“Cade (Gibson) pitched good. He pitched good enough to win. If you ask your midweek guy to do that, you should go out there and win a ball game. We are not playing real good right now. We are in a storm and have to find a way to get out of it.
