The Green Oaks football program will forfeit Friday’s game against Carroll High School.

Steven C. Grant, principal at Green Oaks, stated in the following letter than the majority of team’s players left the bench during their week one game after an on-field incident, resulting in a mandatory one-game suspension by the LHSAA:

According to a letter by Green Oaks Principal Steven C. Grant, an incident occurred on the field during last Thursday’s game against Southwood. As a result, the majority of players left the bench resulting in a mandatory one-game suspension.

The limited number of players for the Carroll game leaves Green Oaks “at a serious competitive disadvantage,” according to Grant. Thus, the decision to forfeit the game was made.

Grant’s letter also noted that the Giants players suspended for leaving the bench area during Green Oaks’ 12-6 win over Southwood last Thursday did not engage in fights with others.
