LAUREL, Miss. — Carina Chargois and Vivionna Robles pitched shutouts, and Kyla Porche produced RBIs on five consecutive at-bats to lead Xavier University of Louisiana to 7-0 and 12-0 softball victories Tuesday against Southeastern Baptist.

The Gold Nuggets (17-24) ended a four-game losing streak. They’ll be back on the road Saturday for a 2 p.m. Red River Athletic Conference doubleheader at Louisiana Christian.

Chargois threw 81 pitches in seven innings of the opener and allowed four hits — all singles — and one walk. Chargois struck out five. Robles threw 66 pitches in five innings of the second game — it was called early because of the mercy rule — and allowed one hit and no walks. Robles hit one batter and struck out eight.

The Lady Chargers’ only second-game hit was Emma Harrell’s single to center field with one out in the first inning.

Porche’s RBI assembly line consisted of:
• A fifth-inning sacrifice fly in the first game to score Alexis Richardson and give XULA a 4-0 lead.
• A seventh-inning single to score Richardson and make it 5-0.
• Sacrifice flies in each of the first two innings of the second game; those also scored Richardson.
• A two-out double in the third to score Kiera Evans, who also doubled.

The shutouts are the third and fourth of XULA’s two-season, 62-game history and its first two on the road. It was Chargois’ second shutout this season; the freshman right-hander beat Jarvis Christian 5-0 March 27.

XULA’s offense totaled 26 hits and no strikeouts in the doubleheader. Mecolett Bradley (first game) and Brittany Ensley (second game) hit bases-empty home runs; Mekayla Marshall had three RBIs in the second game.

Southeastern Baptist — a National Christian College Athletic Association member in its first season of varisty softball — is 0-32.
