Georgia State, two Louisiana schools play in men’s basketball postseason

NEW ORLEANS – Three Sun Belt men’s basketball teams are advancing to the postseason.

Georgia State is headed to Nashville, Tenn. as a No. 15 seed facing No. 2 seed Cincinnati in a South Region first-round matchup in the 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. The Panthers and the Bearcats meet for the first time ever on Friday, March 16 at Bridgestone Arena. Tipoff is set for 1:00 p.m. CT on TBS and March Madness Live. Georgia State is making its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance overall and second in four seasons.

Louisiana in the Postseason National Invitation Tournament and ULM in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament give the Sun Belt multiple teams in the postseason for the fifth-straight season.

The Ragin’ Cajuns received a No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 LSU on Wednesday, March 14 in Baton Rouge, La. Tipoff is slated for 6:00 p.m. CT on ESPN3. The Sun Belt Conference regular-season champion makes its first appearance in the NIT since 2003 and its sixth trip overall. The Ragin’ Cajuns advanced to the NIT Final Four in 1984.

The Warhawks continue their season in the CIT with a first-round game at Austin Peay on Thursday, March 15. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. on WatchCIT.com.
