LSU (5-2, 4-1 in SEC) celebrates homecoming this week as the 19th-ranked Tigers host Army (2-4) at 6:30 p.m. in Tiger Stadium.

The game will be televised on the SEC Network with Tom Hart (pxp), Jordan Rodgers (analyst) and Cole Cubelic (sideline) on the call. LSU is coming off another dominating offensive performance in its 48-18 win over Auburn last week. Army, an Independent who is making its first trip to Tiger Stadium, fell to 2-4 following its 19-0 loss to Troy.

It’s only the second meeting between LSU and Army with the Black Knights holding a 1-0 advantage in the series. Army won the only other meeting between the teams, 20-0, on Nov. 7, 1931 in West Point.

LSU moved up in both polls this week, climbing to No. 19 in the AP and Coaches polls. LSU enjoys an open date next week before traveling to face Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

The Tigers, behind Heisman Trophy candidate QB Jayden Daniels, continue to have the SEC’s most prolific offensive attack as LSU leads the league in scoring offense (45.3), total offense (550.4), offensive TDs (40), passing TDs (22), pass efficiency (188.04), first downs (194) and third-down conversions (57.5 pct.). The Tigers are No. 2 in the SEC in pass offense (335.9) and rush offense (214.6). LSU is currently riding a school-record streak of 6 consecutive games with 500 yards of total offense. Daniels continued his historic play on Saturday vs. Auburn, accounting for 418 total yards (325 passing, 93 rushing) and 3 TDs in the 48-18 victory. The 418 yards of total offense stand as the most-ever by an LSU player against Auburn.

Daniels leads the nation in total offense with 401.3 yards per game as he’s topped the mark 4 times in 2023. He’s also No. 1 in the SEC in passing (327.7), passing TDs (22), and total TDs (26), and he’s No. 7 in the league in rushing (73.6). In 7 games, Daniels has connected on 152-of-208 passes for 2,294 yards, 22 TDs, and only 3 interceptions. He’s also rushed 86 times for 515 yards. In 21 games, he’s become the first player in LSU history with 5,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in a career.

LSU’s offense features the nation’s leader in receiving yards (Malik Nabers with 860) and receiving TDs (Brian Thomas with 9). Nabers has 52 receptions for 860 yards and 7 TDs, while Thomas has 39 catches for 610 yards and 9 scores. LSU RB Logan Diggs is second in the SEC in rushing at 97.5 yards per game (585 yards, 7 TDs in 6 games).

Defensively, the Tigers are allowing 30.3 points and 423.9 total yards a game (157.3 rushing, 266.6 passing). S Major Burns and LB Greg Penn lead LSU in tackles with 47 each. LB Harold Perkins has 33 tackles and is tops on the team in TFL (7.5) and sacks (3).
