Former West Monroe and Ouachita Parish head coach Todd Garvin has officially joined the Ruston High program as an assistant coach.

“He’s a really good math teacher and a really good football coach,” Ruston High principal Dan Gressett told the Lincoln Parish Journal. “We have hired him and it is official today.”

Garvin was dismissed from his head coaching duties at West Monroe earlier this month after several student-athletes on the team were sent to the hospital with heat-related illnesses this summer. He left the same position at Ouachita to take the West Monroe job this past offseason.
