Former LSU tight end Arik Gilbert to transfer to Florida

Former LSU tight end Arik Gilbert has committed to Florida via Twitter.

The 6-foot-5, 253-pounder was considered the best tight end prospect in many years and signed with LSU over other major power schools last February.

The Marietta, Ga. native caught 35 passes for 368 yards and two touchdowns in eight games this past season as a true freshman before opting out. On January 2, Gilbert entering the transfer portal on Twitter before deleting the tweet.

Now the former five-star recruit will look to follow in the footsteps of Gators tight end Kyle Pitts, projected as a high first round pick in this spring’s NFL DRaft.
