Former Amite High School defensive back Daran Branch will enroll at LSU as a preferred walk-on.

The 6-2, 190-pound Branch did not play last season, leaving Georgia’s team before the start of their national championship campaign. In two games as a true freshman with the Bulldogs, he made one tackle.

Branch was a 3-star signee by UGA as a safety in the 2020 class. He had previously been committed to Ole Miss but flipped to the Bulldogs on signing day. Branch was part of the same Georgia signing class as defensive back Major Burns, the Madison Prep product who transferred to LSU last offseason and became a starter at safety in 2021.

At Amite, Branch was part of the Warriors’ 2018 Class 2A championship team.
