Early run fuels Privateers past Lady Demons, 61-48

NATCHITOCHES, La. – The New Orleans women’s basketball program made it a season-sweep over Northwestern State as the Privateers collected a 65-48 Southland Conference road victory at the Prather Coliseum on Wednesday evening.

GAME NOTES
– Senior forward Dionjhae Thomas was just a single point and helper shy from her first career double-double as she posted nine points to go with a career-best nine assists. Thomas also went a perfect 7-of-7 from the line and added three rebounds and two steals.
– Zanaa Cordis recorded a career-high 10 points to go with eight boards and two blocks. The freshman forward went 5-of-6 from the field and notched a steal.
– Mary Delgado put up 13 points in just 15 minutes of play (6-of-9 from the field) to go along with two steals.
– Freshman guard Bri Ellis was responsible for nine points and three boards.
– Mia Deck shot 3-of-6 from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc to post eight points. She also added three assists, two boards and two steals.
– Erin Randle and Kyla Davis each chipped in five points and two steals, respectively.
– The game-defining 11-0 run that started the game was helped by three NSU shooting fouls that sent UNO to the free throw line.
– New Orleans led for the full 40 minutes of game play. The Privateers never trailed.
– UNO got 27 points off turnovers and 23 points of the bench. The group was also responsible for 28 points in the paint and 16 fast-break points.
– As a unit, New Orleans shot 45.5 percent from the field (22-of-55), 35.7 percent from three (5-of-14) and 90.9 percent at the charity stripe (10-of-11).

The Privateers will close out the 2020-21 regular-season with a special Senior Day celebration against Southeastern on Saturday, March 6. Tip off for the season finale is set for 4 PM CT at the UNO Lakefront Arena.
