CHALMETTE, La. – Delgado Community College put up 10 runs on the board in the first 2 innings to race out to an early comfortable lead, and went on to register a 14-4 conference victory over Nunez Community College Sunday afternoon at Suarez Stadium.

The Dolphins batted around in the top of the first as they scored 6 runs on a walk, hit-by-pitch, single, and 2 doubles, all capped off by Logan O’Neill’s long homer to center.

Then in the second, the visitors got four more on a walk, single, double, and Josh Eames’ 3 run homer, and then plated 2 more in the fifth on single, walk, groundout, and Rhett Centanni’s double to go up 12-1 at that point.
Meanwhile, the Pelicans got their first 3 runs via the long ball on Evan Rohlf’s solo shot to left in the second and Ben

Harris’ 2-run clout in the fifth to the same place.

Now up 12-3, Delgado got their final 2 tallies in the top of the seventh on a strike-3 wild pitch in the dirt and 2-base throwing error, single, walk, and Eli Booth’s second 2-bagger of the game.

Nunez then got their final run in the bottom half as Harris stroked a hard grounder inside-the-bag at third for a double, followed by Noah Detillier’s RBI line-shot single to center. After a pop-out to end the inning, the game was called at this point due to the 10-run rule.

Connor Achee picked up the win for Delgado by going 5 solid innings, with Alex Laiche closing out the final two frames for the Dolphins. For Nunez, Kylin Broussard settled things down in relief after entering in the second inning and lasting all the way into the seventh, yielding just 3 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out 3.

O’Neill and Booth led DCC at the plate with 3 hits and 3 RBIs apiece, while Harris (double, HR, 2 RBI), Sully Stringer, and Detillier each recorded 2 hits for the Pels.
