Dillard University set to host 2022 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship

NEW ORLEANS – Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Commissioner Dr. Kiki Baker Barnes announced Dillard University will host the 2022 volleyball championship, to be contested November 4-6.

“We are thrilled to hold this year’s volleyball championship in the same town as our conference headquarters,” said Baker Barnes. “The GCAC volleyball championship has always been competitive and exciting and we look forward to continuing this rich tradition as we crown a new conference champion.”

The championship, sponsored by Pantene, will be held in Albert W. Dent Hall, home of Bleu Devils basketball and volleyball. All matches will be streamed live by Urban Edge Network, the official media rights partner of the GCAC, on HBCU League Pass+. The GCAC will hold its regular season awards ceremony at 4 p.m. on Friday.

“Dr.Ford [Dillard University President] and I are excited to host the 2022 GCAC Volleyball Championship here at Dillard University,” says Dillard Athletic Director Dr. Linda Bell. “We look forward to welcoming all of the GCAC institutions as they compete for the title as well as assimilate all the rich history of New Orleans.”

Three matches will be contested on Friday, November 4 (2, 5, and 7 p.m. CT) and the GCAC will hold its regular season awards ceremony at 4 p.m. on Friday. Two matches are on Saturday, November 5 (4 and 6 p.m. CT); and the championship match on Sunday, November 6 at 2 p.m. CT.

The Bleu Devils, the 2021 regular season champs, were tabbed to win the 2022 title.

As part of GCAC Championships during the 2022-2023 academic year, the conference will hold Championship Media Days, hosted by official media rights partner Urban Edge Network. Volleyball Media Day will be held Thursday, November 3 at Dillard University, and all media are invited to attend and interview players and coaches. For credentials, contact Dani Wright.
