Delgado women win, men fall vs. Hinds

Delgado hosted Hinds on Saturday in the Michael Williamson Center.

The Lady Dolphins led in each period before sealing their 53-49 win over Hinds to improve to 2-0 on the young season. Jamia Singleton led with 14 points. Jadah Bedford had 9 and Tyrione Sparks had 7 with six rebounds.

The Delgado Men led by four at the half before a strong second half. Hinds’ Isaiah Davis scored three consecutive free throws to tie the game 65-65 at the end of regulation.

The Eagles closed a 78-73 win with a basket by Jacobe Singelton with 12 seconds left and four free throws by Joseph Dupree to give Delgado its second loss of the season.

Shyves Johnson led the Dolphin effort with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Major Gorgone and Ron James each had 11 points.

Delgado travels to Wesson, Mississippi Monday for games against Copiah-Lincoln.
