Delgado closed its regular season schedule with a 5-2 win over LSU-Eunice Sunday at “Rags” Scheuermann Field at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium to take the weekend series 2-1.

Christian Westcott’s two run home run put Delgado on the board with a 2-0 lead through two innings. LSU-Eunice cut the lead in half on Weston Fulk’s RBI single in the third to plate Dawson Willils, who reached on a double.

The Bengals tied the game with Andrew Lee’s RBI single in the fourth, scoring Will Mabry who walked and advanced on a passed ball before scoring on the two out single.

In the bottom of the inning, Tripp Haddad reached on a walk and advanced on a walk by Christian Westcott before scoring on a two out single by Giovanni Licciardi to put the Dolphins back in the lead. Rhett Centanni’s double in the fifth plated a fourth Delgado run in Walker Bazile, who reached on a single and advanced on a balk.

Josh Eames walked to lead off the sixth, advanced on a wild pitch, and scored on a double by Christian Westcott for Delgado’s fifth and final run en route to the win over the Bengals, ranked #1 in the nation in the latest NJCAA DIvision II poll.

Josh Pierce picked up the win on the mound in relief of starter Connor Achee, who went three innings. Alex Laiche close the game’s final three innings to pick up the save.

With the win, Delgado (35-14) takes the three game series over LSU-Eunice (44-7) after splitting Saturday’s doubleheader. The Dolphins will open play in the Region XXIII Division I Championship Series on Thursday, facing Baton Rouge Community College and Nunez at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
