Delgado took two wins over Massasoit Community College to sweep Saturday’s doubleheader at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and round out its annual Disney Spring Training Invitational appearance.

In game one, Massasoit took an early 1-0 lead on an infield error in the first inning. Back-to-back Delgado singles by Preston Scott and Walker Bazile in the fourth gave the Dolphins the 2-1 lead before a sacrifice fly tied the game in the fifth.

The Dolphins answered by batting around in the bottom of the inning, sending 10 batters to the plate to combine for six runs on three hits, including a bases loaded walk by Logan O’Neill to give Delgado the lead and a two run double by Tripp Haddad.

In the sixth, a two run double by Rhett Centanni added two runs before an infield error allowed the final two runs of the game to score and secure the 12-2 mercy rule victory in six innings.

Starting pitcher Remy Marsh went the distance, allowing one earned run and striking out five.

In game two, Massasoit took a two run lead on three Delgado errors in the first inning. Jack Walker walked in the bottom of the inning, stole second and advanced on a walk before scoring on a wild pitch to cut the lead in half. Walker Bazile’s sacrifice fly in the second plated Hayden Kibbe, who reached as a hit batter, to tie the game at two.

An RBI double by Tyler Alexander scored Eli Booth, who singled and advanced on a balk. Hayden Kibbe’s two run double in the sixth added two insurance runs before Walker Bazile’s RBI single sealed Delgado’s 6-2 win and the doubleheader sweep. In the doubleheader, Eli Booth reached base eight times, five on walks, twice as a hit batter, and once on a single.

Starter Alex Laiche held Massasoit to only one hit in the third inning. He allowed no earned runs and struck out six.

With Saturday’s wins, Delgado improves to 21-6, having swept all six games of its 2024 Disney Spring Training appearance.
