Delgado split Saturday’s non-conference doubleheader with LSU-Eunice, falling 10-0 in game one before rebounding for a 2-0 win over the Bengals in game two.

LSU-Eunice took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning of game one, capitalizing on a passed ball and bases loaded walk. An RBI single in the fourth added a third run.

The 3-0 lead carried to the sixth when the visiting Bengals posted seven runs on RBI singles by Collin Husser and Will Mabry and a grand slam by Evan Joubert gave the Bengals the 10-0 lead and eventual mercy rule win in six innings.

Luke Barbier suffered the loss with Blaise Lalonde, Morgan Sauber, and Will Kibbe appearing in relief.

In game two, Rhett Centanni’s groundout in the first plated Casey Artigues, who led off the game with a single in the first inning. Jack Walker’s RBI single in the fifth also plated Artigues, who opened the frame with a single.

LSUE threatened by leaving the bases loaded in the seventh before reliever Brady Schmidt retired the Bengals to earn his sixth save in the Dolphins’ win.

Starting pitcher Michael Hotard picked up the win with Remy Marsh holding the game’s middle innings before Schmidt entered the game in the seventh.

Delgado (34-14) and LSUE will close the weekend series and the Dolphins’ regular season schedule with a single, 9-inning game Sunday at 1:00 at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
