Delgado defeated Baton Rouge Community College 9-2 Sunday to sweep the weekend series and improve to 6-0 in conference play after back-to-back weekend sweeps of its Region XXIII Division I opponents.

The Dolphins hit the board on Jack Walker’s RBI single in the first inning that scored Casey Artigues, who reached on a single and advanced on a walk by Christian Westcott. Westcott scored on a fielder’s choice by Jhonnatan Ferrebus, who later scored on a sacrifice fly by Logan O’Neill to give Delgado the early 3-0 lead.

A four run, four hit fourth inning came off of RBI singles by Casey Artigues, Jack Walker, and Rhett Centanni. Walker Bazile’s single in the fifth plated Giovanni Licciardi, who reached on a single.

Baton Rouge narrowly escaped a mercy rule decision with Isaac Leger’s pinch hit double to plate two runs to make it an 8-2 game.

Delgado’s ninth and final run came in the seventh when Giovanni Licciardi reached on an infield error and scored on another error that allowed Preston Scott to reached base.

Connor Achee picked up the win, pitching seven innings and allowing four hits, two runs, and seven strikeouts. Morgan Sauber closed the final two innings.

With the win, Delgado (27-6, 6-0) claims its school record nineteenth consecutive victory. The Dolphins will host John Melvin University Tuesday in a 1:00 doubleheader at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
