De La Salle-Booker T. Washington football game to air Thursday night on 106.1 FM

De La Salle football

The District 9-4A contest featuring De La Salle and Booker T. Washington at Pan American Stadium will air live Thursday night on NASH ICON 106.1 FM.

Crescent City Sports co-owner Jude Young will have the call of the game, along with Jonah Keller with the pre-game show beginning at 6:45 p.m. followed by the 7 p.m. kickoff.

The Cavaliers (3-5, 2-0) and Lions (4-5, 2-0) will decide the district title as both look forward to the start of the Division II Select playoffs next week. De La Salle won the meeting between the sqauds last season, 33-7.

De La Salle is coming off a 26-10 loss to St. Augustine last week in a game that aired live on CCS and 106.1.

Running back Jason Banks paces the offense for the Cavaliers with 654 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns plus 11 catches for 178 yards. Quarterback Evan Arceneaux has tossed for 1,280 yards and nine touchdowns with seven interceptions.

Senior linebacker Keidrick Richardson, a Samford commit, leads the Cavaliers defensively with 97 tackles.

BTW defeated Riverdale last week, 36-22.

The Lions are led by senior quarterback Damyren Washington, who has thrown for 572 yards and five touchdowns. He is also second on the team in rushing yards with 572 yards, adding six more scores. Junior running back Demico Barnes paces BTW on the ground with 784 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Senior defensive lineman Charon Burton is among the top Lions defensively with a team-high four sacks and four tackles for loss. Junior linebacker Demine Lee is the team’s leading tackler with 37.

Entering the final week of the regular season, De La Salle is 15th in the Division II Select power ratings while BTW is 18th. The top 24 in each select division qualify for the playoffs.
