THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University baseball team beat Eastern Illinois 4-0 on Ben Meyer Diamond at Ray Didier Field on Saturday night.

The Colonels (5-1) remained unbeaten at home behind winning pitcher Devin Desandro who pitched the final 6.2 innings to claim his second victory of the season.

The Red & Gray scoring began right away as senior short stop Parker Coddou blasted a leadoff home run to right field on the Panther’s second pitch of the game. His classmate Garrett Felix also hit a solo home run to right field in the fifth inning.

The other two runs came from first baseman Edgar Alvarez and second baseman Erick Ordonez. Alvarez hit an RBI double in the fourth while Ordonez added an RBI single in the eighth.

For the Panthers, Trenton Pallas and Quade Peters had two hits apiece and pitcher Eli Cartwright picked up his first loss of the season.
