NEW ORLEANS — For the second consecutive year, Xavier University of Louisiana’s Ed Cassiere was voted by his peers as Red River Athletic Conference Sports Information Director of the Year. The RRAC announced Tuesday the 2022-23 award.

Cassiere, XULA’s associate athletics director for strategic communications, will begin in July his 18th year at the longtime NAIA member. He is responsible for publicity about all 14 of the university’s intercollegiate teams. Cassiere in 2022-23 publicized XULA teams that won a combined six championships. In addition, men’s triple jumper Seth Alexander became XULA’s first NAIA national champion in track and field.

Cassiere is:

• The second to receive RRAC SID of the Year in consecutive years. Our Lady of the Lake’s Patty Constantin was first.
• The third to receive RRAC SID of the Year multiple times. Constantin and Mark Cantrell, formerly of LSU-Shreveport, also did it.
• The first to win this award in an SID’s first two seasons in the RRAC.
Cassiere will be considered for the NAIA’s national SID of the Year award; that winner will be announced in September.
This is Cassiere’s third league award in five years. He was chosen Gulf Coast Athletic Conference SID of the Year for 2018-19. XULA joined the RRAC in July 2021.
XULA’s intercollegiate sports offerings will increase to 16 teams in August when men’s soccer and women’s soccer kick off.
