BATON ROUGE – Here are the results of the weekly voting for the Louisiana Sports Writers Association state college football players of the week:

OFFENSE — Elijah Mitchell, RB, Louisiana:
Had a monster performance in No. 19 Louisiana’s come-from-behind overtime victory over Georgia State, carrying the ball 16 times for 164 yards and two touchdowns…His performance was his 11th career game with over 100-yards and his ninth career game with two or more touchdowns…The 164 yards mark the second-highest rushing output of his career…His second touchdown was the game winner in overtime, a 12-yard rush…His first touchdown went for 59 yards, his longest rush since going for 65 yards against Arkansas State on Oct. 27, 2018…It was just the second touchdown of 50 or more yards in his career…With his effort, he now ranks eighth nationally in total rushing yards with 210.

DEFENSE — Tyler Grubbs – Louisiana Tech – Freshman, Linebacker
Grubbs led LA Tech defensively in the 31-30 victory over Southern Miss with a game-high 16 total tackles, including four solo and one TFL, in his collegiate debut. The freshman’s 16 tackles marked the first time a Bulldog recorded 15 or more tackles in single game since 2018.

SPECIAL TEAMS — Jacob Barnes – Louisiana Tech – Redshirt Freshman, Kicker/Punter
Barnes was a perfect 4-for-4 in extra point attempts in LA Tech’s 31-30 victory over Southern Miss, including the game-winning PAT to lift the Bulldogs over the Golden Eagles. The redshirt freshman kicker also made a 28-yard field goal in his only attempt of the night.
