NEW ORLEANS – South Florida third baseman Matt Rose knocked in left fielder Marcus Brodil with a single up the middle in the top of the 10th inning to give the visiting Bulls a 9-8 win over host Tulane Sunday afternoon on Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

The victory, which thwarted a Green Wave sweep, moved the Bulls to 21-15 and 7-5 in the American Athletic Conference. Tulane fell to 20-16 and 5-7 in the league.

South Florida reliever Chandler Dorsey (2-1) finished his spectacular outing in the bottom of the 10th. He struck out three in three and a third innings without giving up a baserunner.

Tulane reliever Jacob Moore (3-2) suffered the loss after giving up the Rose RBI. He yielded three hits in three innings with two strikeouts and no walks.

South Florida first baseman Ben Rozenblum went 4-for-4, while catcher Joaquin Monque knocked in three runs. Brodil scored three times.

Center fielder Jackson Mayo and Monque both homered in the fifth inning to give the visitors an 8-6 lead.

For Tulane, designated hitter Michael Lombardi and left fielder Jackson Linn each drove in two runs apiece, while Lombardi, first baseman Brady Marget, second baseman Connor Rasmussen and center fielder Teo Banks all collected two hits.

Catcher Colin Tuft also scored twice. He recorded an infield single in the fourth inning to extend his hitting streak to 20 games and on-base stretch to 28 straight contests.

Tulane dug out from a 4-0 deficit to grab a 6-5 lead on Lombardi’s two-run single in the fourth before the USF homers.

The Green Wave tied the game at 8-all on Linn’s double to left center and the second triple of the season by center fielder Teo Banks.

Tulane will now turn its attention to a 6:30 p.m. home game against South Alabama on Wednesday. The Jaguars are also 20-16 this season after winning two of three over Arkansas State at home this weekend.
