Bowling: New Orleans region all-district teams announced

District champions dominated the major honors as the six bowling districts from the New Orleans region announced their all-district teams Thursday.

On the boys/co-ed side, the highly competitive Catholic League district, which produced three of the top eight seeds in the Division I playoff bracket, also produced an all-district team made up exclusively of bowlers who averaged 200 or better.

Because of ties in average, eight bowlers made the first team – three each from Brother Martin and Jesuit and two from Archbishop Rummel.

Co-MVP honors went to the anchors of district co-champions Jesuit and Brother Martin, Joseph Anderson and Jacob Vangilder, respectively.

Beau Senior, who averaged over 200 in leading Destrehan to a title in the other area 5A district, was voted his district’s MVP. Destrehan and John Ehret split the six spots on the first team.

The top seed in the Division II playoffs, Archbishop Shaw, dominated the all-district team for the region’s Class 4A district. The Eagles had five of the seven first-team members, led by district MVP Joshua Collins.

Patrick Taylor dominated the Class 3A-1A district, claiming five of the six first-team positions. Jadon Lieu, who had the state’s only 300 game in the regular season, was voted district MVP.

Undefeated Archbishop Chapelle made a clean sweep of the first-team all-district honors in the girls district of Class 5A and 4A schools. Elizabeth Hamilton, one of two Chipmunks to average above 200 in the regular season, was voted district MVP.

Patrick Taylor and Academy of Our Lady, the other two girls teams in the region to qualify for the playoffs, shared the six spots on the Class 3A-1A all-district team. The Tigers’ Addison Tran was voted MVP.
